Keynote at the BASL 30th Annual Conference in London

The conference
The British Association for Sport and Law held its 30th Annual Conference on 26 February 2026 at the Royal Automobile Club, 89 Pall Mall, London. BASL is the professional association for sports lawyers in the United Kingdom, and its annual conference brings together practitioners, in-house counsel at governing bodies and clubs, regulators, academics and the sports law bar.
Moses Swaibu, founder and chief executive of GAMECHANGER360, was a keynote speaker.
The keynote
Swaibu addressed competition manipulation from the position of someone who has stood on both sides of the process: as a player who was recruited by fixers and prosecuted, and as an adviser who has since worked with FIFA, the Premier League and other governing bodies on how integrity frameworks are built.
The keynote drew on the themes that run through his public work. The gap between the rules as written and the moment at which an athlete decides, and why codes of conduct alone have not closed it. The practical questions raised by the UK's consideration of the Macolin Convention: cross-border cooperation, the role of national platforms and the sharing of betting intelligence. And the treatment of athletes who fix as, very often, people who have been targeted, and what that implies for sanctioning, rehabilitation and the design of reporting channels.

Why the legal community matters to integrity
Integrity failures end up in front of lawyers: in disciplinary panels, in criminal courts, in employment disputes and in the drafting of the regulations that follow. The people in the room at Pall Mall write the rules that will govern prediction markets, data sharing and athlete sanctions over the next decade.
